I've been extremely interested in this for a while. Im just wondering if anyone who has studied or knows anything about the subject, wether they could help me out here.

Im looking at languages of the time period 200 BC - 200 AD

The Gallic tribes spoke Celtic I assume, did the Celtic language in Gaul vary greatly to that in Britannia?

The first Germanic documents written were a mish mash of gothic influences and Im guessing tribal influences. They were written around 350AD. Prior to that the only Germanic recorded language is on rune stones and Im guessing very difficult to encipher.

The Germanic tribes are thought to have spoken Indo - Germanic however I am guessing that goes way to far back to around 3000 BC bronze age?

Im trying to find out what would be the closest relative language to the Germanic tribes of the north for the time period of anywhere between 200BC-200 AD

Would the language of the Goths be to far out since apparently it differed alot from that of the lombards.

Does anyone have any decent sources as to the languages spoken in those days?

I have downloaded some Celtic dictionaries and Indo- Germanic dictionaries and I also have access to some Old Germanic dictionaries that use vocab from around 750AD-1080AD.

If anyone has any knowledge on the subject let me know thanks.

Hmm, I doubt you'll find many with such specialized knowledge here.

Perhaps they can help you on Roman Army Talk.
