Premium/Paid Version?
« on: July 25, 2010, 04:08:51 PM »
I love this game. I wondered if any thought had been given to releasing a "premium" version for a few dollars that eliminates the ads and offers some bonus to the player for buying the game- special starting ship choices, for instance.

Currently Google does not support paid apps in most countries. Strategy and I am both from Scandinavia and unfortunately our countries are of those unsupported ones. But yes we have some thoughts about this. Hopefully Google make the change soon.

Glad you like the game and welcome to this forum. Please give feedback on how to improve the game :).

He Zuul,

you can still organise a premium/paid version - and i am with Lyanheart. this App would make a fortune. Partner with someone in one of the countries below if you have an issue organising it from your location.

Priced applications are currently only available to users in the following countries:

Australia
Austria
Canada
France
Germany
Italy
Japan
Netherlands
New Zealand
Spain
Switzerland
United Kingdom
United States

Don't know how much more I can say about this, other than the developer need to have a membership of a country that supports pricing. We have to wait for Strategy to come back from his vacation.

I don't know if it would make a "fortune" as a paid app, but it's currently the best (IMO) trader-style game for Android and is still in development. Maybe after more features get implemented it would be something to look into.

based on the rating it has in the market & the call for this kind of game, i'd say it would make quite a bit with a few real key premium features  :P

As Zuul mentions, the main problem is that Google Checkout does not support developers from Scandinavia. If/when Google get their act together and open up the market to support more nations, I will look into the possibilities of developing a paid version of the game. The premium features would probably be limited if I did something like that - I am not a big fan of "crippled" free game versions. Additional starting ship choices or similar is a nice idea, though.

Strat there are quite a few ways around country-specific limitations to paid apps. your game really is fantastic and it is definately a game i would pay for, as it offers a significant amount of replay value - which is such a key feature to mobile games. i don't know how long it't take for google to support your country, but I think you only have things to gain if you create a premium style game and partner with someone in a country that allows paid apps and have them distribute it. I am sure there are quite a few mobile game companies who would be happy to distrubute your product :)

the game has huge potential :)

Hello all. I am new to the forum. I was reading through, and am in agreement with the idea of the "Premium Advantages." I have had P&R on my Droid for some time now, and I must say, this is the best Droid game yet! I would buy the premium version in a heartbeat. Though I can think of things I would like to see added to the game, you guys just make it better and better on every update. In the mornings when I wake up and see that there are updates available for apps, I get excited to see if it is for this game  ;D Keep up the GREAT WORK guys!
