I just get a high capacity ship such as the Spanish Trade Galleon, upgraded with hammocks, and just board them to death with a high fencing skills.

After I got my hands on that treasure ship, I just board everyone in the Carribbean.

Just out of curiosity, is there a set number of treasure ships per game, or is it just that every turn (or set of turns) it has xx % chance of showing up?

I ask only because I started a game, left port and just stumbled upon a treasure ship the second turn of the game. (Of course I had to attack it, went for the rigging, hoping my sloop could survive just long enough to get their rigging, but it boarded me, and that was that. Still, can't pass up the chance to get a treasure ship the first turn out as a pirate. Imagine the bragging rights! :) )

Thanks in advance.

Currently, the treasure ships are a random event. The treasure fleet quest that I intend to add later will probably be either a one-off event or limited to once every five years or something like that. First I need to get my development machine back up again (still causing all sorts of trouble).

I ran into something today, a bug that seems specific to the treasure ship. I captured a treasure ship, but lost my sails in the battle (down to 0).

Heading back to port, I had a random encounter with a British merchant ship. On the battle screen, before any battle had taken place (and the merchant ship hadn't fired or anything), my sails were still at 0. And my only options were to submit or broadside.

I didn't want to attack as I was staying friendly with the British, and of course nor did I want to submit.  I ended up firing a broadside, and the merchant ship tried to flee but failed (my rigging was still up at 10 or so I think, but what good is rigging if I don't have any sails? Shouldn't it have been about to outmaneuver me?).

After it succeeded at outmaneuvering, my sail rating went up to 1, intended behavior, I believe.

So, one bug is sails not being jury-rigged to 1 after a battle with the treasure ship
One suggestion is in addition to having options to attack or submit, an option to "wait" or "do nothing"
One perhaps unintended behavior is that an opposing ship can fail to outmaneuver mine when my sail rating is down to 0.

Thanks again. Good luck with your development machine!

Belated thanks for the report. Bug (with jury rig) should be fixed now.
