The Forum Update
« on: February 19, 2002, 07:28:31 PM »
Hi Philj; sorry about the maintenance thing - I checked before starting the update, and didn't find any users on-line. Given the number of users, I thought that would be quite safe. ;D

Regarding the "new look", I'll probably fiddle with this during the next couple of months - it was too much bother when I was doing this (the change itself was pretty swift, otherwise I would have delayed it a couple of months).

Everyone - if you're having any trouble with the board, let me know - either by e-mail or by posting to this thread.

Not a problem - it actually saved you from a more OT post about local politics.  Unfortunately, your example of xenophobia hit a chord with me down here.

I'm having a minor hiccough -

For a number of the pages on the forum, I have to hit refresh to get the page to appear.  As this is the only board this occurs on, I'm assuming it's not me.

Doesn't affect me in any other way - so less a crash, more a speed hump

Right.... so it isn't just me this is happening to. I started wondering a while back, but have been too busy to check.

Hmm... well, I'll try and see if I can fix this problem. In the meantime, just hit that refresh button.  :(

Ok, I have updated the forum to Version SP 1.1, so there should hopefully be less problems with the forum from now on.... I hope.

I don't know if it's possible with third party forum set-up (YaBB), but can you put links to your content pages anywhere on these pages.

It's easy enough to type in and I definitely don't want to distract you from your most important tasks but I was wondering ...

As the days start to get very long for you soon, I imagine external activities could pose a major distraction. :D

Not quite sure what you mean but...

It's no problem to link back to the main pages from the forum pages, if that's your question - I mainly haven't done it, because I've been too busy with other things. It's on the todo list for the next (major) overhaul of the webpages.

Just wondering - - a "while you're up could you make me a coffee" sort of job.

Apologies for the confusion but English is my first (and only) language, so I tend to speak and write in short hand.
